"First, Do No Harm"
The timeless golden rule of the Hippocratic oath remains central to medical practice. Yet, in a world where medicine intersects with corporate interests, emerging technologies, and conflicting public health guidelines, this principle demands renewed attention and application. The role of ethical practice is not only to ensure patient safety and trust but also to challenge outdated paradigms and advocate for change where it’s most needed.
The healthcare profession is grappling with questions such as:
- What does it mean to practice medicine ethically in a globalised, tech-driven world?
- How should practitioners navigate the ethical complexities of controversial topics like nutritional advice, social media use, and alternative treatments?
- What are the obligations of doctors, dietitians, nurses, and health coaches when facing situations not addressed by conventional guidelines?
What to expect in this training:
The training dives deeper into these pressing questions, offering insights from some of the most respected voices in medicine, law, and nutrition. The curriculum tackles contemporary issues such as:
- The ethical implications of emerging treatments like ketogenic diets for cancer, bariatric surgery, and medications like Ozempic.
- How to ethically approach obesity and chronic disease treatment in children.
- Social media and virtual practice ethics, including how to navigate the challenges of practicing in an increasingly digital world.
-
Protecting oneself legally as a healthcare practitioner while remaining true to ethical principles.
