Become an Accredited Metabolic Health Practitioner
The Nutrition Network delivers the SMHP-approved core training you need to earn the MHP credential. One clear pathway, discounted course bundles, and a step-by-step route from enrolment to accreditation.
Who does what on your road to accreditation
The SMHP and the Nutrition Network are two separate organisations that work hand in hand. Here's exactly how the pieces fit together.
Society of Metabolic Health Practitioners
The SMHP is a US-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that sets the standards for metabolic health practice. It reviews applications, grants the accredited Metabolic Health Practitioner (MHP) credential, and lists accredited practitioners in its public directory.
Your membership, application, and final accreditation all sit with the SMHP.
Nutrition Network
The Nutrition Network is a CPD-accredited education platform founded by The Noakes Foundation. It delivers the core training modules the SMHP requires on the Nutrition Network Pathway, and it's an approved provider of CMHE credits.
Your courses, bundles, and certificates of completion all come from the Nutrition Network.
Why the MHP credential matters
Metabolic health is moving into the mainstream fast. Accreditation puts a recognised standard behind your name before your clients ask for one.
Use the MHP credentials
Accredited practitioners earn the right to use the MHP designation, certifying you meet SMHP standards of knowledge and competence in metabolic health.
Get found by patients and clients
Accredited MHPs are listed in the SMHP practitioner directory, where patients and clients actively search for qualified metabolic health support.
Practice with confidence
The core training covers the science, clinical application, and ethics of therapeutic carbohydrate restriction, taught by leading doctors and scientists in the field.
Five steps from where you are now to accredited MHP
This is the full SMHP accreditation process. The Nutrition Network bundles on this page cover the training in steps 2 and 3.
Join the SMHP
All applicants must be active SMHP members in good standing. If you haven't joined yet, you can become a member on the SMHP website.

The core training, module by module
Every module is taught by leading doctors, scientists, and clinicians in metabolic health, including faculty from The Noakes Foundation.
Foundations of Metabolic Coaching
The science of metabolic health, low-carb and ketogenic nutrition, and chronic disease reversal, plus the real coaching skills to make that knowledge land with real people. Taught by experts including Prof. Tim Noakes, Dr. Robert Cywes, and Dr. Hassina Kajee.
Ketogenic: The Science and Practice of Therapeutic Carbohydrate Restriction
A comprehensive overview of the science, evidence, and application of therapeutic carbohydrate restriction. The flagship professional training on the pathway.
LCHF in Clinical Practice, Module 1
Scientific and Evolutionary Evidence. The research foundations behind carbohydrate restriction as a therapeutic intervention.
LCHF in Clinical Practice, Module 2
LCHF for Practical Medical Applications. Applying therapeutic carbohydrate restriction across real clinical presentations.
LCHF in Clinical Practice, Module 3
Prescribing LCHF in Clinical Practice. Turning the science into safe, structured protocols with patients and clients.
Advancing Ethics
The big issues facing the medical and healthcare professions today, and how to navigate the ethical dilemmas each one raises in practice.
The 60 CMHE credits, explained
Alongside your core modules, the SMHP requires 60 Continuing Metabolic Health Education (CMHE) credits from an approved provider. One important rule: these credits cannot come from the core modules in your bundle. So the Ethics module's credits won't count toward your 60, but credits from other Nutrition Network modules, like Reversing Diabetes, will.
The easiest place to earn them? Right here. The Nutrition Network is an approved provider, and the courses in our full course catalogue carry CPD points, so you can build your 60 credits on the same platform where you complete your core training.

What practitioners say about the training
Verified reviews from Trustpilot.
"Nutrition Network is one of those very few organizations that I can truly trust. Everything they do is for the sole purpose of helping others become and stay healthy. I warmly recommend their teaching services to all healthcare providers in any field. They will enrich their knowledge based on real science."
"I've been using Nutrition Network training for the last few years for both CPD purposes and expanding my knowledge further with in-depth courses. They are by far the best training provider I have ever used. They are a friendly, welcoming bunch. The lecturers are extremely knowledgeable, helpful and insightful and the information is rooted firmly in science."
"This is THE place to be to become an expert in metabolic health. Everything that's taught here is evidence-based. I have studied nutrition and health coaching in three other institutions and while I learned a lot there, there was also a lot that I was taught that didn't really have much scientific basis to it, whereas the Nutrition Network is really the real deal and if I could go back in time, I would have started my education there but better late than never!"
"I cannot recommend Nutrition Network highly enough! Having completed several of their outstanding self paced online courses and now the full live NNP (Coach Practitioner) pathway, I am genuinely transformed both personally and professionally."
"The Nutrition Network is a highly trusted organisation. It teaches the truth about Nutrition. It teaches the truth about health. No conflict of interest, no commercial sponsorships, no lies. I highly recommend the organisation and the training it provides."
